PrideInn Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa has unveiled the Istanbul Beach Cave Restaurant, Kenya’s first Turkish-themed dining experience uniquely set within an ancient coral cave along the North Coast. This innovative addition to Kenya’s hospitality scene combines authentic Turkish flavors with the breathtaking backdrop of Mombasa’s coastline, offering both locals and international visitors a one-of-a-kind culinary adventure.

The restaurant is housed in an ancient coral cave, part of reef formations that date back approximately 125,000 to 250,000 years. Over millennia, natural processes like erosion have shaped these formations into the striking caves seen today, adding a layer of historical and geological significance to the dining experience. Beyond its culinary offerings, the Istanbul Beach Cave Restaurant highlights Kenya’s rich natural heritage, making it both a scenic and cultural attraction.

The launch comes amid a significant boost in Kenya’s tourism sector, following the introduction of the visa-free policy in January 2024. The policy has seen a surge in international arrivals, with visitors from Turkey and other regions contributing to a projected 20% rise in total international arrivals by the end of the year, according to the Kenya Tourism Board.

Managed by an experienced Turkish chef and restaurant team, the Istanbul Beach Cave Restaurant brings classic Turkish dishes to Kenya, catering to a growing demand for authentic cultural experiences. With direct flights between Istanbul and Kenya soon to be reinstated, the restaurant also serves as a cultural bridge for the Turkish community in Kenya and an exciting new offering for adventurous Kenyan diners.

“Our vision with Istanbul Beach Cave Restaurant is to provide a truly unique and culturally rich experience that attracts both local and international tourists,” said Hasnain Noorani, Managing Director of PrideInn Hotels, Resorts & Camps. “This addition strengthens Kenya’s reputation as a destination open to diverse, global experiences.”

The launch event, held at the natural coral cave that now houses the restaurant, was graced by His Excellency Subutay Yüksel, Turkish Ambassador to Kenya.

“The opening of Istanbul Beach Cave Restaurant is a wonderful symbol of the deepening ties between Turkey and Kenya,” said His Excellency Subutay Yüksel, Turkish Ambassador to Kenya, during the event. “As more Turks travel to Kenya, we are excited to see cultural exchanges that celebrate our shared values. Turkish residents and visitors can now enjoy authentic Turkish cuisine, and we believe this restaurant will be loved by both Kenyans and tourists. It is a wonderful example of friendship between our nations as we look to reintroduce direct flights from Istanbul to Mombasa.”

Also in attendance was the County Executive Committee (CEC) Member for Tourism, Culture, and Trade in Mombasa County, Mr. Mohamed Osman, who reiterated the county’s support for initiatives that bolster tourism and create economic opportunities.

With the festive season underway, the Istanbul Beach Cave Restaurant is set to draw both local and international tourists, making it a standout addition to PrideInn Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa and Kenya’s coastal attractions.
